Making Intergenerational Connections with Oshkosh Students

Elders from Miravida Living helped kindergartners from Roosevelt Elementary School in Oshkosh practice their reading before the end of the school year at the chapel in Bethel Home. The group also visited with the cats and dogs from Noah’s Landing, an innovative program that brings pets to our campus. Reading books and sharing love – wonderful – just wonderful! Miravida Living is committed to fostering intergenerational connections among residents and members of the community – creating moments of connection, joy, and delight for all. We host elementary school students throughout the school year for reading and activities. We also work with UW Oshkosh Religious Studies and Anthropology students taking the university’s Ethnographic Methods course. Students are paired with our elders to gain an understanding of their perspectives through visits, discussions, and activities. Visit our Facebook page to tell us about a connection you’ve made with someone of a different generation!
