Latest Achievements and Successes at Our Campus

We’ve been busy since our brand reveal night at the movies in March! We’ve been working to refresh materials, signs, and vehicles across our campus with our wonderful Miravida Living logo and colors. Read about some of our other recent achievements and successes:

National Award From Intalere

In May, Intalere, a health care supply chain management company, honored us with the Moving Procure to Pay into the 21st Century award at its national Elevate 2017 conference. As an early adopter of ENVI, we implemented the electronic inventory management system, resulting in a 51 percent increase in contract utilization and allowing us to receive substantial price reductions and rebates. This change is saving an estimated $30,000 per year in staff expenses and 12 percent in prices paid for items procured.

Jason Meyer, our business operations manager, implemented the strategies for interacting with the supply chain, automating procurement, receiving, processing accounts payable, and managing inventory. Meyer and Theresa Bertram, our president and CEO, accepted the award at the conference in Orlando, Florida.

“Jason’s efforts directly impact the financial fitness of Miravida Living,” said Theresa. “His success led to recognition of Miravida Living at the national level.”

Jason celebrated another achievement recently. He was promoted to business operations manager in May. He leads the housing team, handles procurement and manages special projects like the recent information technology system transition. He has worked with us for eight years, previously serving as our logistics supervisor.

Another Important Internal Promotion

Josh Borland was promoted to facilities operations manager in May. He moved into the position after working as Eden Meadow’s maintenance supervisor for about two years. He is responsible for leading the maintenance, grounds, and transportation teams at Carmel Residence, Eden Meadows, Elijah’s Place, Gabriel’s Villa, and the Simeanna Apartments. Josh is also a consultant to the Bethel Home team on large projects like upcoming renovation plans.

An Addition To Our Leadership Team

Licensed nursing home administrator Dave Merkley joined our leadership team in the last quarter. He works with staff at Bethel Home and our five other facilities to ensure we provide high-quality, compassionate care to all residents.

Dave has more than a decade of experience in operational management. Highlights of his career include working with the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Services of Ventura County, California, to reduce antipsychotic and anti-psychotropic medications by 26 percent. He also served as president and legislative chair of the California Association of Health Facilities. He is currently serving on the quality and legislative committees of the Wisconsin Healthcare Association.

“Miravida Living is at the forefront of helping our elders live with wonder,” said Dave. “The programs we have here not only address the medical needs of our elders, but the spiritual and emotional needs as well.”

Dave joins a leadership team committed to identifying and developing innovative programs and services and taking action on their ideas. We’re also dedicated to developing leaders, and whenever possible, promoting from within. If you’d like to start a career with us, we invite you to apply for one of our open positions.
