Experience Miravida

I open the door. The gorgeous guest from afar sweeps in. In her hands are her gifts – the gifts of hours and far-seeing moments, the gifts of mornings and evenings, the gifts of spring and summer, the gifts of autumn and winter. She must have searched the heavens for gifts so rare.

Our Transformation

For over 50 years, Lutheran Homes of Oshkosh has served the needs of elders, provided peace of mind for their loved ones and offered meaningful, purposeful work for its employees. We have been known for our leadership in creating new approaches to care, and we are often first to introduce new options for apartment living, assisted living, skilled nursing and rehabilitative care, and dementia care.

In recent years, we have moved away from brick and mortar expansion plans. We’re focused on our services and providing our residents opportunities for extraordinary experiences. This fundamental shift has ignited creativity and inspired the launch of programs with an approach centered on our elders.  Today, our work is about creating moments of connection and joy.

Our shift in thinking resulted in the need for a name change. We needed a name that captures the spirit of innovation, describes – without defining –  life with us and inspires possibilities going forward.

Our search for just the right name led to the creation of a new word. Miravida emerged. “Mir” is a Latin root word meaning curiosity and wonder. “Vi” is Latin for life.

Miravida Living: A way of life emphasizing wonder and curiosity … a way of living not defined by age or abilities but filled with possibilities and opportunities.

Bringing forward the best of who we have been and moving forward with a commitment to be even better … we are Miravida Living.

Leadership

“Every step along the way is marked by a sense of wonder … a process of inquiry … leading to learning … creating a special environment in which different relationships come into play … unleashing energy, creativity, innovation … thoughtful silence, thoughtful dialogue … forming relationships cradled in deep trust … a generative process allowing an inner shift in awareness and consciousness … changing perceptions and resulting actions … engaging destiny and creating the future.”

Developing new approaches to our work required a fundamental shift in how we think about our work, what we measure and how we define excellence. Our leaders are committed to creativity, developing big ideas, identifying and developing innovative programs and services, and taking action.

Today, our momentum is sustained by knowing there are new and better ways to develop and deliver programs and services. Our actions are consistent with creating a way of life for our elders – a life filled with opportunities based on their preferences. Miravida Living captures the spirit of our work and inspires future possibilities.
