At Miravida Living, community is more than a word—it’s the heart of everything we do. Recently, that spirit came to life in a beautiful way when residents of Carmel Residence and Simeanna Apartments partnered with Oshkosh Area United Way for a book drive that inspired us all.
It started with a simple idea: what if we could gather books for local children and families, sharing the joy of reading while strengthening the bonds between neighbors? Our residents didn’t hesitate. They opened their shelves—and their hearts—to make it happen.
In just a short time, more than 220 new and gently used books were collected. Each book was given with generosity and thoughtfulness, a quiet but powerful reflection of what it means to care deeply for others. From colorful picture books and story collections to meaningful chapter books, these pages hold stories that will soon spark imagination, curiosity, and learning.
We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Geralyn Boegel, our Community Services Manager, for leading the initiative. Geralyn not only coordinated the effort but also helped our residents understand why literacy is such a meaningful foundation for opportunity—especially for children. Her passion invited everyone to be part of something bigger.
These books will find their way into the hands of children and families throughout the year at Oshkosh Area United Way outreach events. We’re proud to play a small role in fostering a love of reading and supporting lifelong learning right here in our community.
This book drive reminds us that connection can come in many forms—sometimes even in the form of a simple story passed from one pair of hands to another. And it’s yet another example of how, at Miravida, neighbors supporting neighbors makes our community stronger.
If you have books you’d like to share, we invite you to reach out to Oshkosh Area United Way at (920) 235-8560 or via email at oauw@oshkoshunitedway.org.
Together, the residents of Carmel Residence and Simeanna Apartments helped write a chapter of generosity worth reading—one page at a time.
