Miravida Living Statement on COVID-19 Diagnosis

April 1, 2020

A case of COVID-19, the illness resulting from the novel coronavirus, has been diagnosed in a resident at Eden Meadows. The resident has been transferred back to the hospital to receive the comprehensive care required to treat the virus. Some of the members of the Eden Meadows team are symptomatic and are currently in self-quarantine. We are making arrangements for them to be tested.

We have notified public health officials and are following procedures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We are taking every step as recommended by authorities to contain the spread. We want to make residents, their families, our dedicated staff, and our community aware of this situation and reassure everyone that we are actively monitoring the status of our residents and team.

We are quickly sharing information about this outbreak to help stop the spread of the disease, and prevent and reduce illness and even death. Miravida Living has witnessed the efforts made by the community to be ‘safer at home’ and given this development, recommend further vigilance.

Initial Announcement of COVID-19 to Miravida Living Community.

Following guidance from CDC/CMS, additional actions are underway to keep our residents and staff healthy.

  • Families, visitors and volunteers are not permitted to enter our buildings.
  • Everyone entering Bethel Home, Eden Meadows, Gabriel’s Villa and Elijah’s Place is required to be screened and have their temperature taken.
  • We have implemented active screening of residents and staff for fever and respiratory symptoms.
  • Meals will be served to residents in their rooms.
  • Worship and all other group activities have been canceled.
  • Managers-of-the-Day have been scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays at Bethel Home, Eden Meadows, Gabriel’s Villa and Elijah’s Place.

While these actions are in the best interest of our residents and staff, canceling activities, dining alone and focusing on their health status will undoubtedly cause anxiousness.  Please use the messaging link to send notes and photos to your loved ones and friends.  It will help them keep their spirits up during this difficult time.

Miravida leaders are continuously monitoring information and implementing direction provided by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Winnebago County Health Department.

Please be assured we are making a best effort to keep our residents, staff and community healthy.
